Our mission also extends beyond our own community to the people of the world around us.
Why we reach out
James 2:14-17
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Each year we prepare and serve a dinner at the Community Center for anyone in the community who wishes to come together for fellowship and a delicious Thanksgiving meal.
Our members collected goods that were needed in Ukraine. With the help of another organization we were able to send them over seas and show our love and support.
Members of First Church make Christmas goodie bags for our members that are not able to get out. We want them to know they are not alone!
Members of First Church donates throughout the year to the Community Food Bank and ALY (Anamosa Lunches for Youth), as well as serve as board members and volunteer their labor for both organizations.
Pastor Rodger Godd Preaches at Pinicon Place here in Anamosa Iowa every other Saturday at 10:00am.
Each December our share tree provides gifts for families and children in the area.
Care baskets: Care baskets are delivered before Christmas to show our love for older members and shut-ins in our congregation.
Clothes Closet: In conjunction with other churches, we provide volunteers and donations to the Clothes Closet located at the United Methodist Church.
Each year our church creates a display at the LCC Tree Walk to show our faith and sense of community. Our youth also participate by holding a cookie sale as part of the event.
